Dubai Clear is licensed and governed by the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) under the Board of Directors’ Decision No. (22 / R.M) of 2016 Concerning the Regulation of the Central Clearing Party (CCP) Business. Dubai Clear commenced its operations upon receiving the regulatory approval from SCA in March 2020.
Dubai Clear undertakes all clearing, settlement and risk management functions for DFM. Dubai Clear becomes the central counterparty for all trades executed on the DFM trading platform, whereby it acts as a Seller to all Buyers and Buyer to all Sellers for settlement of trades.
Dubai Clear provides settlement assurance for all trades executed on DFM to mitigate counterparty risk. Dubai Clear has a robust risk management framework supported with clearing technology provided by Nasdaq.
Effective 23 June 2021, Dubai Clear was admitted as a Primary Member of the Global Association of Central Counterparties (CCP12).
